The Movistar Arena Madrid — known for years as WiZink Center and previously as the Palacio de los Deportes — is one of the largest and most iconic entertainment venues in Europe. And the best part for Corner28 guests: it's just a 5-minute walk from our apartment in the Salamanca district. If you're planning to attend a concert during your stay in Madrid, this guide is everything you need.
What Is the Movistar Arena
The Movistar Arena is a state-of-the-art multipurpose pavilion located in the heart of Madrid's Salamanca district. With a maximum capacity of 17,453 spectators, it hosts everything from the biggest concerts to sports competitions, award ceremonies, and major corporate events.
The venue has a fascinating history: its grounds were originally farmland, later became a bullfighting ring, and from 2005 onwards reinvented itself as the modern Palacio de los Deportes. After several renovations and name changes (WiZink Center, 2016–2025), it now operates as the Movistar Arena — positioning itself as Madrid's premier music showcase.

Venue Configurations: A Space for Every Show
One of the Movistar Arena's greatest strengths is its flexibility. Depending on the event, it can adopt different configurations:
- The Box — Up to 3,630 spectators. Ideal for more intimate artist formats.
- Ring — Up to 5,630 spectators. Central stage surrounded by the audience.
- Ring Plus — Up to 8,706 spectators. The mid-range option with excellent sightlines.
- Full Arena — Up to 17,453 spectators. The configuration for international superstars.
This versatility makes the Movistar Arena the home of artists as diverse as Rosalía, Tame Impala, Laura Pausini, or Spain's biggest radio festivals.

Getting There from Corner28
From our apartment at C. de Sancho Dávila, 28 (28028 Madrid), the Movistar Arena is just 5–7 minutes on foot — one of the great perks of staying in the Salamanca district.
On foot (recommended): Head down Calle de Sancho Dávila towards Calle de Goya. The venue is at the corner of Goya and Jorge Juan streets. You'll be at the door in under 10 minutes.
By metro:
- Line 2 or 4 → Goya: Just one stop from Príncipe de Vergara, with a direct exit to the venue
- Line 6 → O'Donnell: Also very close, about 5 minutes on foot
By bus: EMT lines 15, 21, 29, 30, 53 and 56 have stops very close to the venue.
By taxi/rideshare: Tell the driver "Calle Goya, 90" or "Calle Jorge Juan, 99". The return trip after concerts is always busy — we recommend booking your ride through an app before the show ends.
Movistar Arena: Madrid's Cultural Epicentre
Beyond concerts, the Movistar Arena hosts world-class sporting events (basketball, boxing, tennis), circus shows, galas and major theatrical productions. Being just 5 minutes away is an advantage you'll rarely find anywhere else in Madrid.
The Salamanca district isn't just luxury boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants — it's also one of the city's densest hubs for culture and entertainment. And Corner28 sits right at the centre of it all.
